It's a ford 1600 x-flow mated to a MK9 gearbox
The clutch is fine but I have to have loads of play in the cable to get a comfartable release point when my foot is on the pedal to the extent the
pedal flops towards me when I take my foot off the pedal. I can think of two solutions. Get in the car put my foot on the pedal and leave it there or
stick a mighty spring on the end of the cable. Somebody out there must have come up with a tidy solution. Heeeeelp
Either of those solutions is likely to lead to the early demise of your clutch. Any chance of slipping a spacer of some kind over the cable near the clutch release lever at the bellhousing? I once used a tube, threaded on the outside, with a larger threaded tube screwed onto it, and the whole lot fitted over the end of the cable before it was attached to the lever. That allowed me to adjust the freeplay...
I have put stops on my clutch pedal, to locate the 'foot off' position and to stop pulling too much cable. I also have a fairly powerfull
compression spring incorporated in the cable outer to force the release bearing against the release fingers to stop clutch rattle. The sierra adjuster
does this latter. Used with an adjustable escort cable this allows me to position the clutch take-up exactly where I want it in the pedal travel. Pick

Just used a stop bolted to the floor in front of the clutch pedal to limit the pedal travel
