Since I am replacing a faulty fuel regulator (pressure too high) I was wondering if the so called Power Boost Valves are worth the extra dosh or are they just a Max Power thing?
depends how much extra dosh, if u have an FI car the mapping that has been done should already done all what it says it can do, i can see that making
a more efficent fuel regulator would help acceleration and throttle response, but i doubt it would be significant.
it does sound like one of those max power things that will do sod all, such as things that plug in to make ur ecu think the engine doesn't warm
thus enriching the mixture increasing the power, apparantly! which obviously is aload of crap.
however its possible that this may be of benifit, if it is 1.7 times faster at regulating pressure, than it may improve what it says it will. how much
is a normal fuel regulator for ur engine? if its a similar price go for it and try it out!

I just finished a call to Ford - apparently the part is no longer available as a separate item and I have to buy the complete inlet manifold for over
£400 !!

well if u can't get a new regulator or a good second hand one then u may as get the power boost valve! is typical that car manufactors do that,
fiat are bad for it too. to replace the back rubbers in the rear suspension of an fiat cianqutecio we had to replace the whole suspension arm!!! to do
that new would of cost loads but my dad got it done himself for about £100, was silly as to go the same job on his sprite would of cost £2.20!!
anyways i ramble on, hope u can find a second hand one or a new regulator someone maybe has tucked away or find a supplier who still has some.

I'm phoning another Ford parts dept right now to get this clarified. It's totally stupid to junk the whole manifold just because the
regulator is out of spec!
I've heard of non serviceable parts but this is ridiculous - we'll be expected to fit a new engine when the oil needs changing soon!
i fitted a fse boost valve to my mates fiesta 1.4 zetec1. It made a noticable difference to the acceleration.
Maybe you could fit one of them if theyr available for the V6, You can adjust the pressure etc so maybe run it a bit lower than usual?
It seems the first guy I spoke to was a complete muppet
The Ford TIS appears to have a glitch and the part, although not in stock, is £45.

well at least the fse regulator is adjustable so you could set it to whatever you like or adjust it to see if higher pressure does make any
difference. Also handy if you ever change the standard inlet for throttle bodies off a bike or jenvey jobbies and/or ever run different flow rate
injectors...
all imho, but for the same money as the standard part its a no brainer for me

Ok, I decided to bite the bullet and go for an FSE Boost valve with gauge for £103.50. It was either this or a 4 week wait from Ford so it was the
lesser of two evils - at least it allows me to set up the fuel pressure properly.
Looks like it's beans on toast this week
plenty of fse regs on ebay from various cars but they are all the same internally, just buy one and set it to the pressure you require.
Raz - check ebay m8 - they're much cheaper

Unfortunately the V6 Duratec has a non-standard one - it bolts directly to the fuel rail so it is not an in-line one. I would guess that the FSE one I
ordered comes with an adaptor to make fitting possible, but I will hopefully find out tomorrow as it has been despatched.
have you got a piccie? can't be that hard to make a take plate or something?

I'll post a pic tomorrow Ned - I agree that given time and a milling machine I could make something to fit ........ but unfortunately I have a little of the former and none of the latter.
Here's a pic of an identical engine - you can see the regulator at the front. It just shows the vacuum connector at the top and the underside has
both feed & return spigots which mate into the manifold with O ring seals.
I think it made a bit of a difference, i put one on my 1.6 zetec, mainly because i just fitted a 2 litre throttle body and k+n and exhaust i put the feul pressure a tiny bit up. Bit bodgy but seems to have done the trick and picks up quicker. Jon

Looks like they missed a bit with the oil....
Rather a large bubble isn't it - but it works ok.
I fitted the boost valve and my fuel pressure is now set at 2.5 bar. However I still have trouble starting - it is at least running for a few seconds
now, but very lumpy and loads of backfiring.
I gave the ecu supplier a ring and he is sending me a diagnostic cable to plug in a pc (for the extortionate price of £32 :mad so I should then be
able to see what is happening in detail.
One good thing though ............ my exhaust sounds luuuverly - even the postman said he could hear my attempts at starting the engine half a mile
away!
