well its was a long day (and night - as in an all nighter with no sleep boy am i knackered)

big thanks must go to Shortie and James for their late night efforts in helping me get the car in a suitable state to make it to the rolling road in the first place!

quite pleased with the results, would have liked more but wouldnt we all?!

pretty much inline with what i was expecting aswell which is nice. I think there could be a little bit more had we not wasted time solving some problems which would have meant more time working on the map. That and the fact the engine was mapped to soft cut 7750rpm and hard cut 8000rpm but the power runs were only done to 7400 and the engine was still on cam when they lifted off.

ps the reason for the wiggly bit between 5500-6000rpm is a vibration/instability with the car on the rolers affecting the reading - suspect a wheel/tyre needs balancing.

Nice one, it's a great feeling when the engine's screaming on the rollers isn't it (that little bit of nervousness in case it all goes bang!!!)

Interesting on the power plots.

Just looking back at my old plot from the std XE on 48mm throttle bodies.

That made 176hp @ wheels, (don't worry, the good news is to follow!!!) but had nothing like as much beef to the curve as yours.

I think this shows that the std head flows extremely well, and that the std cams are holding it back in the midrange, as well as the top end.

Had mine on the rollers yesterday at Northampton Motorsport - Std engine on Dellorto 45s made 179bhp (at 6200rpm) and 156lbft (at 4850rpm).

Hadn't used revs above about 5500 until the drive home - had a big grin on the way home but i'm not sure the gearbox survived the ordeal!

Must now get into the garage to sort out the bodywork for the paint shop.

Yeah but on the track "we've" got a large run off area, gravel traps and no one (in theory) coming in the other direction!

On track i'd scream and smile a lot without needing new trousers (i hope).

If the other builders wont get in the car with you they wont even stand near hicosts car then

No running in really, engine was built and run a couple of times at home on the base map, then at the rolling road they spent the first couple of hours doing all the low rev running, cold start etc stuff then only at the end did they do the power runs to get the mapping for the high rpm stuff.

Who mapped the engine? Looks like they did a good job on the fuelling from the AFR trace.

It was mapped by Steve Greenauld and Steve Pilscher at Track'n'road Powerformance.
