i know the one on the left is the water temperature as i just removed it from my thermostat housing, howver he one on the right has just come out of a brand new packet that was bundled with some other stuff i got - can anyone identify it? is it air temp or is it something totally different? ps the bundle of stuff was all my throttle body bits

cheers,

Ned.

If its got a Bosch part number you can stick it into ecat and it'll tell you everything.

ecat = http://ecat-online.bosch.de/toc/enter?DEFAULT=30&COUNTRY=GB&a mp;LANGUAGE=EN

thanks for the link - but its either :
a coolant temp off an alfa
an air temp off a beamer
an air temp off a beamer or a vw

which narrows it down a bit

Shouldn't matter which just a question of getting the at 3 temerature points.

Thinking about it ned I would say it's an air temp sensor (hence being covered in black shite) off a turbo engine.

Prob turbodiesel beemer and turbodiesel VW.

they see higher charge temps hence why it doubles as a water temp one for the alfa.

I'd get one from sbd (he's not far from you anyway is he) for what they cost mate.

Its all 3, one and the same part number covers a variety of uses for the same item.

well as it was bundled with my throttle bodies which originally came from qed and it was in a sealed bosch pcket i'm assuming it is the correct past to use, just still not sure which it was intended for in the kit.

guess i should call qed in the morning.

nat, i know they're cheap but see no point in buying one if i already have one!

If it came with throttle bodies it's almost certain to be intended for use as an air temperature sensor.

If it was with a set of throttle bodies how come its covered in black tarry deposits??

After 12,000 road miles in my manta my throttle bodies and air filters never had a hint of gunk on them or in em!

ned - 5/4/06 at 06:51 AM

the black stuff isn't gunk its either the material or a coating on it - it was brand new and just removed from the packet when i took the pic!
