Yes its that time again, clueless idiot needing help with newly aquired zx6r carbs and manifold.

Got the carbs all plumbed but no joy when cranking the engine over. Deff have a spark and timing is deff right.

I am running using the original re circulating fuel system with carbs drawing from a in line 'T' section.

Carbs seem to be getting plenty of juice (maybe slightly too much) and easy start doesnt seem to work either.

Help!

Engine is 1500 sohc fiat x1/9 and carbs are ZX6R rejetted to 160 each.

Is it possible to pump too much fuel into carbs? Have now ordered ZX6R fuel pump so that will put my mind at rest about pressure. Anything i can do in the mean time?

What fuel pump are you running??

its a small mechanical jobby. Used to run a continuous system, tank - pump - carb - tank....

that was with the old weber so iv just put a T junction where the old carb was and fed the new carbs with that.

Have you tried clamping the fuel line (brake pipe clamp) slow fuel/pressure down see if it will fire then

If it won't fire on easystart then you obviously have an ignition problem, have you taken a plug out to see if you have a spark?

If you've been overfuelling while trying to start, it's possible that the plugs could be very wet with petrol and tracking instead of sparking. Do you have a spare set of plugs you can try?

Have a rethink wait for the bike fuel pump to come as I think they are all Mitsubushi and will have a self regulator in so then fuelling will not be an issue and hopefully it will fire.

Failing that take onboard what the rest of the members have already mentioned.

Reckon jools is right.....wait 4 the bike pump to turn up, only needs a little bit too much pressure in the fuel line to flood em....see u at t wknd....l8r my man...Oli.

You only need 1 - 2 lbs fuel pressure, you can use a bike pump , or a fuel regulator set at that level.

Any moree pressure can open the fuel valves in the float chamber and flood .

Have you mounted the carbs at a similar angle as when they where used on a bike?

had anoth4er go this morning, still no joy. Its trying to fire on its own and sometimes on easystart, tho that seems to flood it. Il hold tight til the new pump comes and how she likes that.

Its a Bogg Bros manifold so yeah the bowls seem to be sitting pretty level.

Ps. Does Easystart work on lazy sleeping flatmates?

My Pinto uses the standard mechanical pump with R1 carbs. No problem with flooding here. My only problem is poor starting when cold but I think this is due to a poor spark.
