2 throttle bodies
cornishrob - 4/2/06 at 06:49 PM

i have just got my BMW v12 which has 2 fly by wire throttle bodies, im want to fit cable throttle bodies to it but im being held back on the idea because i dont know if it will work schyronised enough

has anyone had any experience with using 2 seperate throttle bodies on seperate cables or would i be better off joining the throttle bodies together?

V12 Jag, two throttle bodies joined by rods to a central cam. I,m not sure what your engine looks like but I would hazard a guess you could probally use a modified jag setup as it only bolts between the banks.

Not the most defined picture.

But i would hazard that the pivot for the butterfly is verticle rather than horizontal. The bar connects by pulling and pushing rather than a rotational force. This seems a much more reliable and simple method to me.

Thankyou. ill now be going and looking more into this set up.

The Beemer throttle bodies are fly by wire and are renowned for causing trouble, an ex work collegue (ex of Ocean Falmouth) has a really nice one with duff throttle bodies, he was going to scrap it as it was going to cost £2200 to repair! I introduced him to megasquirt and he is now going this route.

He is now lecturing at Camborne Tech in the automotive section.

2200, quid!

I never have liked BMW electronics.

there are several throttle body options available im just having trouble of how to link the two. Just been speaking with the chap supplying my brakes and the guys there getting to machine my bells and brackets can do adaptor plates for different throttle bodies too so just need to decide on what items to use now.

This friend of yours is his car and 850 or 750? Being an ex BMW man I may be interested in speaking with him at somepoint.
