I'm working on fitting an RV8 engine in my 944, I'm planning on using the Porsche flywheel and clutch, and an adapter plate to mate the
engine to the Porsche bell housing.
For the flywheel I'm thinking of using the crankshaft adapter from a Range Rover Auto as per the 1st pic.
Have the centre of the flywheel machined out to fit over the smaller diameter part of the adapter.
Extend the shallow register in the back of the flywheel so the larger part of the adapter fits inside it, the recess is only about 1mm.
Re drill the flywheel to bolt onto the 4 points on the adapter, I may double those up to 8.
The last pic shows machining the flywheel will remove all the existing holes, unlike some I've seen with half moons present.

I know it will all need re balancing, and the flywheel doesn't seem heavy enough for the V8, but the ring gear is integral with the clutch and
that almost doubles the weight to just short of 20KG.
Do you guys thing the plan is sound?
Lastly anyone know any machine shops in the Sheffield / Rotherham / Chesterfield area who would do the machining.
Cheers.
Pete.
