Hi,
Setting up my cooling system with a couple of new components. Running a 2 l Zetec with Raceline water rail and a Polo radiator. I have a 92 deg
thermostat in my rail, but which fan switch should I use?
Any ideas?
Think it will depend where you're putting the switch. If it's in the rad then 86-88* should do but if it's at the engine you'll want something higher (96-98*?).
It will be placed in the radiator.
I used a variable sensor so that I could adjust the temperature that the fan came on. Its the pink box to the left of the blue radiator hose and you
can just see where the thermocouple goes into the pipe. These are available from e-bay. It was a bit fiddly getting it to seal where the thermocouple
pushes into the radiator pipe, but it allowed me to play with the settings until I got what I wanted
radiator hoses
Common ones are (Intermotor) 50200 92*on and 87*off or 50030 is 95*-85*
I've also fitted a 3 wire sensor in an MK where I wasn't sure the above ranges would be OK and I could swap wire around to use the lower
switching if needed without having to change the switch. A 50025 gave 93*-82* or 87*-76* depending on which terminals were used.
A motor factors should e able to give you the spec of various fan switches

TOP GAUGE Universal Itouch Fan Super Controller Water Oil Temp Voltage Gauge
I use the above, had a boss welded into thermostat housing for sensor.
Great controller, displays temp, flashes when fan is running and also has a over temp warning which beeps.
All fully adjustable to your requirements
