Just fitting a new sump seal to my Black Top Zetec. It's a scholar lowline sump so has the older Silver Top Zetec seal.
I've always used Hylomar Blue but wonder what others used and would appreciate some opinions please? Especially for the sump job that I'm
about to undertake.
I used Loctite SI5980 Gasket maker/sealant, seems to of worked a treat on my zetec sump.
With the Scholar sump of a Blacktop you only need 4 tiny blobs of sealant, where the gasket crosses the joint between the front and rear covers. here
there is a tiny step, just seals that.
I used ordinary black engine silicone. Been there 5 years and all OK.
No need for loads of sealant like there is on some engines. The seal works on a Zetec just as Ford intended.

Thanks for that but I'm unsure where said blobs need to go! Can you be a little more precise with blobbing points please?

Where the 4 black blobs are. But just a small amount.
Threebond engine sealant, or in a different guise, hondabond from honda is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread.
