The push downwards in getting a zetec running on the cheap continues.
Found this on turbosport.
In short, its a 2.0 zetec running on a DGAS downdraught carb fed by a facet electric pump,fiesta/escort hcs ignition.
The builder used an adaptor plate on the inlet manifold. Notice the original cast iron exhaust manifold as well.

Have you seen the Zetec installation in the Anglia. Homemade bracketry holding XR3i dizzy running off a second pulley off the exhaust cam.

Looks well trick and apparently runs well. Could it really be that simple? There must be some major downsides otherwise this would be well published???

I have to say that I would rather just stick a Megajolt on. Easily available now and dirt cheap.
By the time you take into account the cost of the bits and the time spent, the dizzy and belts can't be any cheaper.

Seems a real waste of potential to put a DGAS on a Zetec, I wonder what the performance hit is like?

Does anybody happen to know what the part number is for the short-type auxilliary drive belt seen on this engine? Having only just started looking at manuals ('cos I only just got a copy) and since my engine was beltless when I got it I didn't realise that it I'd need a much shorter belt than standard due to the lack of power steering pump. Can anyone help?

id be interested in knowing too, and where the alternator bracket ( and which alternator to use ) came from.

I used a Falcon Automotive belt part code 6FR870 (870mm length)

Not sure of original fitment.
Runs triagulated aroung alternator, waterpump and crankshaft.

My set up is as follows:

Daihasu charade alternator with custom made pulley to match zetec crankshaft pully (same diameter as original charade one). Escort water pump pulley (ribbed not smoooth like mondeo)

bracket for alternator as design by Siert:
