Oil filter location

I may be exposing my ignorance here, but that's never stopped me before

Is it ok to locate the oil filter above where it would normally go? I can't fit the filter where it should normally go on my Rover v8 because there is some frame in the way. I managed to get a Mocal remote kit, and I'm trying to figure out where to fit the filter bracket. My current thinking is as per the attached photo (obviously I will trim the hoses to fit - I haven't done that yet in the photo since this may not be the final configuration) - however, it is mounted on the top rail which is considerably higher than it would normally be.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
KEv.

Placing it there will be fine, make sure the filter points down as per the picture and when you change fill the filter with oil before screwing up.

Yep - I did that with my Cobra . Has worked fine for many miles.

This part of the oil system is under pressure, so you're OK.

However, the hoses look like they're subject to chaffing - I've had an oil-line go under pressure and it's not nice.

Thanks all for the replies - that's a weight off my mind!

I agree that the hoses in the photo look like they're subject to chafing - rest assured I checked that when they're trimmed to size they won't touch anything else.
