My 2ltr zetec used to run air con but now i have taken the compressor off i think i have to run a different belt for the altenator / water pump and possibly a different altenator mount?

I want to keep the altenator on the inlet side as in a mondeo as my turbo gets in the way when fitted as found in escorts.

I think i have to run the 1.8 escort water pump and a different belt?

This might be one for Kevin (zetec) to do as i can see from the photo shown below that he has done it all before on his zetec!

The othe picture is of my fully rebuilt lump sat in the corner of the garage waiting for the sump to come back from the tig welders.

You will need to go for the 1800 Fiesta/Escort pump with a grooved belt pulley as you say. I think my pump was for a 1800RS Fiesta zetec (Halfords £20ish new) , the pulley I got from Ford (suspect loads sitting in the breakers). The belt goes bottom pulley - water pump - alternator. Once you have the alternator mounted you'll need a belt, Halfords do a few, I went to a good local motor factors who had most sizes.

Or mount it facing the other direction. Keeps it out the way.

Did you use the stock ford altenator bracket or make your own? Does the stock mount have any adjustment on it. I think my old belt run needs a tensioner thought they used.

No, cheated and bought one from Spyder cars. Mounts the standard item just right and out of the way of the carbs/TBs, comes with an adjustment bar .
