Sierra LSD; I.D. from a photo ?

Is it possible to identify a Sierra type LSD (viscous) form a photo?

One often see's images on Ebay etc with the back cover removed and I wondered if there was any tell-tale signs to look for?

The one on the left is LSD
Not easy to tell from a photo

this is true for limited slip and open diffs

But if you try to stop one of the output shafts:

The open diff will let you and spin the other faster.
The LSD will not let you stop one output shaft.

If the rear cover is off you will see a split line down the centre of the crown-wheel flange with the viscous LSD model.

The standard open diff has a one piece crown wheel mounting flange.

This is in my car. 7" viscous LSD. Ford helpfully often write the ratio as shown.
