Zetec plumbing

Hi all
I am after some advice.
I've seen the diagrams for plumbing in a zetec.
What I was wondering is can I tee the bottom expansion tank pipe into the bypass pipe from the thermostat instead of running both these pipes forward and having two separate tees like I've seen on all the diagrams on the forum.
Hope this makes sense.
I just think it will make the installation look a lot neater.

No, the stat' closes the by pass once warmed up.

If you try and use the heater outlet it over pressurises the header tank.

For neater plumbing some people put the header tank in the nose. I like mine on the scuttle where I can keep an eye on it.

Hi gents,

I am interested in your statement, BigWasa, about overpressurising the header tank if the
heater outlet is used. Why should that happen as 'pressure' would surely it would be the
same everywhere within the system.

I have plumbed mine that way, and yes the fluid level in the header tank does rise when the engine is running.

Its worked for me since 2002 and on many more I know as well.

Over pressurising may not be the right way of putting it but many people have found it forces the coolant higher up the tank and even out of the top.

Ford T'd every thing on one spider hose on the water pump.

My car has been plumbed like that for the last few years and never had a problem with it, the bypass pipe is still connected to the bottom hose whichever way it is done .
