Anyone able to show photos of their Rascal alt' onto Pinto mount please?
Story behind it:
Heard a bit of belt squeal the other day, had a poke around and found that the alternator mount that bolts my Bedford Rascal alternator to my Pinto
has sheared in 2!
It's a 30mm wide strip of 3mm to which I welded the the upside down U bracket ground from the Rascal's own mount.
It has sheared literally in half vertically in the middle of the strip equidistant from the 2 engine bolt holes.
I suspect I tightened the belt too much (the adjuster is perhaps a little too short!) and so the bracket was twisted slightly hence why it has split
where it did.
Easy fix is just to make another using 5mm plate or similar instead of the 3mm... but this isn't really the way I like to do things. If
there's a stronger, lightweight option I'd rather go for that.
So, just looking for some smart ideas please!
Cheers,
James

The guilty party... the bolt has half come out!!! Wondering if this has caused it all rather than me adjusting the belt too tight!

Snapped along the HAZ!
