Just finished my Zetec engine mounts and thought I'd share a few pics...

looking very nice andy
How far does your sump hang below the chassis rail with them mounts
6cm with a standard Escort sump.
It will be shortened.
Series 2 Land Rover petrol.
I might copy your gearbox mount. It look very nice
Go ahead.
I suspected a few people might be interested in it because the standard Sierra one is pretty crap. It is very soft and reduces ground clearence in the
worst place possible.
Mine only cost £2.64 to make which I would imagine is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new Sierra mount.
If you get the square V8 landrover mounts they are a bit more heavy duty my local Landy place stocks them for a laughable 2.60 each!
How big is your bonnet bulge going to be ??
Mick
I won't need one.
I'll be using body work from GTS. Tthe front of their bonnet is 8.5" high, with the engine where it is the top of the cam pulleys is 8"
high.
Hopefully
I'll bear those rubbers in mind because I'm going to need to make up a mount for our Rover LT77 gearbox.
The standard one has rubber blocks that screw into 2 angled bits on the rear of the gearbox.
Like this:
I'm wondering if that arrangement is needed (is it there because of the torque?) or if I can just bolt directly into the bottom (there are
already threaded holes) using something like a landrover engine mount rubber. That way would certainly be simpler to fabricate.
I'm no engineer but...
I think most of the torque will be taken up by the engine mounts on the Zetec engine and the Type 9 mount is just to stop the gearbox moving round
under acceleration and cornering etc.
If you have engine mounts that will stop your engine turning under the torque I don't think there will be a need for a gearbox mount thats takes
up torque as well.
That's what I would have thought too. Would make it a simpler job certainly!
Better picture of the rover SD1 mount:

Very neat engine/gearbox mounts Andy.
Only snag I can see is it's going to be a real water trap in it's present state. Drilling a reasonable size drain hole near the bottom of
the square tubing and/or fitting some kind of cap would fix this. Alternatively make the nut captive and then just weld a plate over the top.

I had thought about a drain hole but decided I'll only do it if it's needed. I'm not planning to drive in the wet!
You would'nt be able to tighten the mount properly if it was a captive nut plus you'd need to use a spring washer or something to stop it
vibrating undone.
Hmm, I dont have these two bolt holes on my Type9. Is thre different kinds of Type9:ers??
could be from a grannie...
