So, as part of my push to get the car back on the road I need to sort out the fuel filler neck. It never filled well, leaked and now the £50 of rubber
bends have perished!

My previous design was not exactly brilliant (57mm funnel- 90° bend - 57-52mm reducer- 90° bend- 52mm tank) so I'm going for something simpler,
less parts, lighter hopefully that still minimises boot space take-up. I'll change the funnel to 52mm and then have just 1 flexible hose.
So I want to go with this stuff:

Is David's thread at all relevent to filler neck hose? Or should fuel not be sitting in the filler neck anyway so it's not relevent? (but
then my current setup perished with no fuel in direct contact).
I'm told that back panel fill are a pain (slow- pump keeps clicking off) so I'll stick with top fill. I have a France tour planned so will
need a lot of fill-ups and want it to be easy/quick!
Any comments, thoughts, suggestions on all this?

P.S. How stretchable is 51mm flexible filler hose? Could I stretch it over the 57mm funnel I have and save buying a replacement? Sounds unlikely!
How about getting a steel pipe made up in the S shape you need, then use short straight rubber connections, it looks like the sharp bend in that one has contributed to its fatigue.

I have a spare fuel elbow you can have, but that might not save the day if your having filling problems anyway
If your tank is alui, and appears to be, i put a large socket, that fits snugly in the fuel tank filler hole, and then a long extension bar into the
socket, and gently bent the whole filler neck towards the filler nozzle, this meant less bends, and now on mine, its just a shortish length of
straight fuel hose
On, my car the filler is in ther rear panel, and filling was ALWAYS a long slow process, but now with a much cleaner slope for the fuel to pour down,
its much quicker
