Any you guys know if I can get hold of electronic Vss which will attach to the mechanical spindle drive on thd type 9 gear box? but still be able to
house the cable to drive the speedo? My ecu needs vss data but I have a mechanical speedo so just wondering how to get around it without having to by
an electrical speedo.
Cheers ken
Burtonpower?
Scrap yard, fitted to most front wheel drive fords, look under the bonnet and sticking out of the gearbox you should see one, i got 3 for a £10 from my local place
Most Ford FWD sensors fits with the threaded adapter from Burtons.
Lean over the engine look down and they are on top of the Fwd (IB5??) gearbox.
Jon @ Digital Speedos will sell you one.
I was a test pilot for his first attempt on my Quaife Type 9. It worked a treat.

Hi Ken.
The ford electronic pickup fits to the gearbox on the opposite side to the mechanical pickup.
It requires a different gear to the standard mech drive so the it can drive the electronic module as well.
I got mine from Chris at BGH (when they owned the Fury) give him a call and he may be able to help.
They collect them from boxes that arrive for rebuilds.
The electronic pickup gives 5 pulse for 2 rotations of the output shaft.
I had to make a mounting bracket as my box did not have one originally.

I'm a little confused by this (after the same thing but not bothered about the mechanical drive) as the replies above contradict each other. After a little scouting on e-bay it looks like fiesta/ka/escort sensors might fit though. Later cars such as the mondeo appear to have a different setup (a hole for the sensor to sit and read the rotation of the final drive as opposed to a driven sensor).
