Turbo charging
LBMEFM - 16/6/11 at 08:37 PM

Reading an earlier post with suggestions for fitting turbo/supercharger, is it possible to fit one to a carb'd 898cc Blade engine and what can I expect with regards to the cost and the amount of work required.

Very possible, it will be my winter project
Looking to 180+ HP probably cost under £1000 in a locost stylee.
Have a look here..

Hi Barry, might be worth a call to Ashford Motorsport, their based in poulton close, dover.

The owner has a fireblade bike that he fitted a turbo to a few years ago.

Here's the expensive way:

If you are able to make up the bits then quite cheap, mine suffered clutch slip so had to invest another £400-£500 in a lockup clutch, with HD springs on factory plates it was marginal.

clutch came from here, I paid for the cad drawings so should be less than I paid

It makes a huge difference to the performance..... well worth the effort, I shuddered at the cost of a decomp plate so only run low boost, 7psi but this is worth 201bhp on the dyno

I will see you at Lydden next week so come for a spin around the track.

Regards Mark

Again, as per other post, told it would end up i a pile of molten mess LOL . If its a 'mess around; and you've got another engine, go for it. I,ve got a gas flowed head for a sc28, if you want it FOC

i am playin with supercharging thro bike carbs with an st170 engine. Things seem to be going ok. Its just a matter of ensuring you pressurise the carbs and adjust the fuel pressure according to boost.
