Right ,I've sussed how to check other postings, but greggors84 is for a type 9 box, mine is ordinary 4 spd.
I made a contraption for an escort four speed. I'll take some photo's at the weekend and post them. Can't promise it'll work when
the car's running, but it works when parked on the drive.
But that's ok because that's as far as it'll go at the moment.
I made something... really simple and works really well.

hi, check photos on davef archive.
Davef,
looked at your pics, nice job!
a couple of q's, is that extra tube near the upper wishbone a guard of some sort? what is that serious looking rad you've got there?
tim
It never fails to amaze me at some of the ingenius soloutions that the lads come up with. Good on Ya
Thanks guys,very helpfull !
hi alfasudsprint, no that is not a guard, it is a 14mm dia anti roll bar, the rad is an aluminium type that is fitted into birkin cars, that are made over here in south africa. cheers davef.

hi dick, yes the nut is a alluminium replacement for the nylon type, and it does trap the carrier plate between it and the gear box, the u bolt in front secures the plate from swinging about. cheers davef.
Dave, thanks for that. Is this nut a regular item, or specially machined up?
Kinda crucial for this installation.
hi dick, yes it is a special nut to relace the nylon item that used to go belly up quiet often, they were made here in SA but are no longer available, but you could make a metal strap to go over the existing nut and pass through the carrier plate and fasten under the gearbox to keep your existing nut secure. cheers davef.
Another variation on the theme of 4 speed gearlever extension. More photo's in my archive.

That looks very neat! Mine is a bit more agricultural looking ,but works ok on the road . One thing that I aint seen mentioned is how to put pressure on the front lever to engage reverse . I've over come it by using a hinged plate ,operated by a lever running down the r/hand side of the tunnel . To engage reverse ,press down lever ,&operate remote lever in usual way. Sorry no pics ,not too good on computer !
The way mine is done, you can just push down as normal, works perfect
Mine is also fairly agricultural
I removed the reverse stop thingy from the Escort gearbox and then made a new one to bolt under the sierra lever. You can see it in my archive, the
tapered thing. Works the same as originally in the Escort.
So far.
