Hi Guys,
Well i've decided that a skateboard isn't really a suitable engine mount, so i better make some proper ones!
Please refer to diagram a:
PIC1 shows where the mounts are on the chassis, the red blob is the gearbox mount.
PIC2 shows potential angles of the mounts. Now i'm guessing that a 45 degree angle is best, but given the height of the engine and how it sits
in the chassis, the angle i would end up with is as the green lines, is this acceptable for holding up an engine?
PIC3 shows the weird angle of the left hand mount. Without moving the mounting point on the chassis, the engine mount will be going at an angle
towards the front of the car, again, is this wise or do i need to move the mount?
The car is a sylva striker and the engine is a silvertop zetec 1800.
Any help or advice is much appreciated!
Regards,
Andy
the other option i had thought of is the picture below which will keep the pole at 45 degrees and kind of hang the mount lower, but does this improve
matters at all?
This is the mount on a black top can you make it like this

does that just have two engine mounts as well, one from each side? and if my OAP eyes are correct, that mount is completely horizontal? If that's the case and that's alright, then i guess a 25 to 30 degree angle instead is also adequate assuming the thickness and grade of the steel is good enough?
Hi
Am i coming over tomos afternoon or you to me ?
We will come up with a plan for some mounts
I made mine for the xflow
hi mate, not sure if i can get to you, but it's fine to come over here, what kind of time were you thinking?
The photos are out of Dunk3 's photos
the n/side one is horizontal by the looks of things give him a u2u

Yes the nearside engine mount is horizontal, and it cracked after 200 miles, it was a MK design that came with the kit which i bought from MK, took it back to MK and they made me a new one which is now a lot stonger, done 1,000 miles and no problems so far.
how much effort is there in cutting a 3 mm plan and welding it to the 2 chassis rails as the base for the engine mount?
that is what I would do.
.... in fact, that is what I did
