The polo rad (see zetecs photo archive) slightly tilted back 152 from westy and thirty bucks from partco (you may have the right one) I will see what the number was Zetec said use a 15 psi cap on the bottle. macspeedy is using a carpri rad

just had a look at zetecs rad, its not the same as mine

was plannin capri rad , heard they fit well?

also wonderin about wat alternator that every one else has used for the pinto?

Capri rad should fit but may well need considerable tilting back to do so.

Not exactly efficient but does the job.

Mk2 Escort tilted back works for me. It's probably similar to a Capri radiator. I used the standard alternator with a bit shorter belt and moved the engine bay brace to the other side.

cheers guys

anyone got a capri rad that can give me the dimensions?

macspeedy - 23/5/04 at 11:45 AM

top to bottom 480mm and 485 side to side which includes some lugs for mounting, thickness is 60mm at lugs and 40mm for the core hope that helps

I used a rad from a nissan Micra, went in upright pretty easy and so far seems to work quite well with my 1.8 pinto.

The expansion bottle that clamps onto the side / rear of the rad can even remain in situ.

I've used a polo rad, I would recommend you use a 'pull' type fan that sits on the back of the rad, I have used a 'push' type on the front, it does fit but it's VERY tight between the rad and the nose grill

From what year/type is your Polo rad?

James - 24/5/04 at 12:46 AM

I've fitted a Micra rad too- though not run the engine yet!

A nice alternator is the one from a Bedford Rascal van. It's a Mitsubishi jobbie (I think they're the same in the Vauxhall version) and is really small and light.

I've made a braket from part of the Rascal bracket plus a small plate of 3mm. Seems to have worked well so far.

HTH,

James

Micra radiator. Dead easy to fit, and comes with fan, switch and integral expansion tank.
