good choice on engine

twinturbo - 1/1/10 at 09:16 AM

is the air filter staying there???

TT

CRAIGR - 1/1/10 at 09:25 AM

Nice !!!
Will be looking for an sr20 engine/box/loom this year for future project .

Shiny bits look good. Who's fabbed them?

JESUS CHRIST!

Smart

nice!!

that inlet manifold looks like a bit of a lump.

love the intercooler. what made you mind up between intercooler and chargecooler? im looking down the lines of something turbo for my next engine and am still not sure of the plus and minus points of each.

twinturbo - 1/1/10 at 01:00 PM

It does look g8,

But my question again...

is the air filter staying there???

TT

plantman - 1/1/10 at 05:53 PM

air filter just above the rack, just in front of crank pulley and just behind fan...when I say just I mean JUST..

A&H fabrications Hereford

and cheers

plantman - 1/1/10 at 05:57 PM

if you mean by charge cooler water cooled intercooler that bit was easy I reackon i could have an cooling problem hence the side vents to try and get air through.

I figured the water will have alot to do and cooling the intercooler might have be a bit too much.

twinturbo - 1/1/10 at 06:12 PM

I don't think that is the best place for the filter.

The charge that is cooled by the I/C will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter. This will be heated by the turbo. Cooled a bit by the IC which will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter. This will be heated by the turbo. Cooled a bit by the IC which will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter. This will be heated by the turbo. Cooled a bit by the IC which will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter. This will be heated by the turbo. Cooled a bit by the IC which will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter. This will be heated by the turbo. Cooled a bit by the IC which will heat the air that is sucked in by the filter.

Couple that to sucking in the air from the rad cooling..

And your Charge temps are going to go up.

Your also in danger of snorkeling up any water if the belly pan is left open ( which if not is going to increase the Charge temperature issues. )

Is there nowhere else the Intake can go???

TT

plantman - 1/1/10 at 06:31 PM

i agree
but there was no where else really the bottom will be sealed off

post iva I will be cutting a very large hole in the nose cone and attaching some pipework, might even try and see if i can put the air filter in some sort of case

twinturbo - 1/1/10 at 06:40 PM

Your probably better of removing the IC then untill you can get it sorted. I think it will probably be counter productive at the moment

Are you fiting a Air Charge Temperature guage?

Can you fit a Y-pipe and run to two smaller filters located elswhere?

TT

plantman - 1/1/10 at 07:07 PM

don't think i will be going far until after the iva....

FlansS14 - 29/1/10 at 01:17 PM

That intercooler/rad set up looks very nice! was it expensive.

I had the same problem as you with the filter and maf meter.. i now run mine on the outside of the side pannel... it gets very hot under the bonnet! im making some new sides for mine this winter with a 2" opening at the back to draw out the air (like the DAX motorcycle ones)

the build looks good so far but just a little note... the SR20's dont like dump valves if yourunning the stock ecu as the maf records it.
