This is a what if question, as presently running CVH.

The pre-blacktop zetec in 2 litre being a fuel injected system What is the simplest way to fit a carb system. Is there any manifold and standard carb that would fit directly to it and allow use of a megajolt system?

The Zetec never came with carbs, so there's nothing OEM available.
The closest I've seen is a cut and shut manifold on eBay so you can bolt a twin-choke weber to one, usually used by banger racers and not something I'd use.

I reckon you're down to either twin carbs (webers etc.) or (my preference) motorbike carbs.

Webers will be expensive, especially ones suited for Zetecs (if you fit any old carbs you'll have problems tuning them).

As for bike carbs, you can order a set of carbs and manifold complete, ready to run from Bogg brothers in North Yorks, or make a manifold yourself and buy some carbs off eBay, or any choice between the two.

The ST170 inlet manifold is plastic and can be cut about to fit respaced carbs too.

cheapest options individual motorbike throttle bodies standard ford ECU or motorbike carbs and megajolt both on home made manifold
or for a bit more a ready made bogg set up

I may just look for another 1.8 CVH as insurance.

Weber dcoe 45's

and as it so happens they are for sale.

As it happens, there are manifolds to fit Weber 45DCOE's that are very nice indeed. I bought mine on Ebay, as I did with the Webers. In concert with a very simple ignition system (not requiring an ECU of any kind) purchased from www.quad4rods.com it makes an inexpensive & basically bulletproof conversion. Looks the part, too, in my opinion.
