Diff ID? Sorry!
SALAD - 23/10/09 at 04:26 PM

Sorry, couldn't find the answer on the search results.

Just been scrabbling round a goldmine of Sierras and need to identify one diff ratio.

It is an A reg 2.0l 4speed manual as far as I know.......do we know what it should be??
It's well burried so difficult to check VIN plate or turn the shafts.......and there's no tag!

Take the rear cover off... if you can get to it. the ratio is marked on the crownwheel.

Turn the output shaft 1 full turn and see how far the input flange turns, easy to determine the ratio...

if he cant check the VIN plate or count the flange rotations then theres no chance has getting the back plate off. Especially as it sounds like its in a scrappies.

Yes but that's not going to happen, it was hard enough just checking if it had a tag or not!

Exactly Craig

you could always sell it on ebay if its not right, if its cheap enough

btw - 2.0L's are mostly 3.92, but some are 3.62, not sure if 4spd make any odds though

Good chance it's a 3.38 then, that's what I was hoping.
Probably worth the effort to get it out then.
Thanks chaps

Just a thought, that table above shows some 3.14 and 3.38 diffs as LSD....??? I thought they didn't make them........or am I reading that wrong?
