Cooling pipes

I need to make a water rail to run the coolant outlet on the back of the duratec head along the side of the engine to put it in a decent place for to connect to the top of the polo rad.

Would there be a problem in running this pipe say half way down the block which would put the pipe below the level of the top hose on the rad? I would run it higher, but I dont really have the space for it between the injectors, throttle bodies and belt tensioner...

Basically the top hose would fall from the back of the head by about 6" then straight along the side of the block, then back up about 4" to join to the rad.

Cheers,
David

Shouldn't be a problem. Any air trapped in the rad will get out through the bleed connector on the rad. Plenty of cars have top hoses that loop down and then back up.

That's how mine goes on a zetec. Runs at 80C at 80mph on the mutterway for mile after boring mile. So it must work.

Mine runs under the zorts but no bleed on the rad so reckon its only 3/4 full. Warms up to 86 and sits there whatever the weather, driving conditions etc. Rescued attachment P1000187.JPG
