Got a new toy today!

Hooray! My first engine! I don't think I'm going to use it in my future build however, this is more for educational purposes.

Plus the fact that I got it on trade for a computer is pretty cool. The wife even said to go for it.

I do have a couple of questions. The transmission was sold before I got to talk to the seller and I'm afraid that the bellhousing bolts are no longer with the engine. Does anyone know the size bolts I will need to put this thing on my engine stand?

Yeah... those are the before pictures. I'm scrambling to get an engine stand and hoist before Monday.

I guess I can go to an auto parts store after I pick it up to get the necessary bolts for my stand?

I'll also be posting many more questions I'm sure as this is my first engine project. It currently runs so hopefully I can keep it that way.

they're more than likely M12, but don't quote me on that.

looks like it had a turbo on it too?

Not yet......

I dont think im going to sink a lot of money into it.

What kind of power are you all able to get out of these engines? Even with a turbo or supercharger I've seen max figures around 180hp. Anyone had difficulties with this engine, parts hard to find, weak points, etc...

get any long m10 - m12 bolts say 4in or longer,dont worry

I got one for £50 and took it to bits. Learnt more doing that, than reading any manual. I cant believe i threw it out afterwards though!

This was before the bikes, cars, and toys though!

A Mate of mine runs 200hp from a 2.0L zetec with R6(?) TB's anda race cam.

I used standard M12 bolts to mount my vauxhall engine on its stand - two were 110mm, one 100mm the last one went through an unthreaded hole so had to have a nut and washer to retain it - this bolt needed to be 140mm long....

......However mine's a vauxhall! - you will have to check lengths + thread sizes on your engine for yourself.

This is a warning to any of you that might use craigslist.

I ended up not getting the engine posted above due to an unexpected change in plans. Was really bummed, but I think it turned out for the best as I was checking craigslist again today and found the EXACT same engine being sold by the EXACT same guy only the engine had somehow lost about 7,000 miles!!!

Not only that, when I called him the first time he said that the transmission had already been sold, yet the ad is for a complete motor WITH transmission and all ancillaries. I will be a bit more wary when buying anything off craigslist/ebay

Here is the proof. Check the pics against the ones I uploaded.
