Looking for a plain type of expansion bottle. On my last kit I used a Triumph Dolomite one. These ae difficult to find now.
Looking around the scrappies I can only find the type that is moulded to the shape that fits the car.

If not from the scrappy then where can I buy such a thing?

I have seen 110 Land Rover Expansion tanks used before. They are pretty plain, made of steel too so you can mount them on the exaust side of the block without fear of a melted mess, just keep those pipes away.

Vauxhall Astra bottles are in alot of '7' cars. i know at least 4 anyway
And cheap as well, just soak em in a bucket of washing powder solution, biological if i remember, and they come up white again !!

I think mine came from a f reg van,but ithink the earlier astras had the spherical bottle too.

a perfectly good astra van got scrapped so you could have that bottle,good job it wasnt my van

Rover K series cars 214/414 have a small tank, also easy to mount and just one small and one large connection.

Lke the sound of 2 connections as there is an air bleed hose from the fireblade angine.

just realised U didnt mean that. Two mounting connections....I see

i thought it meant pipes as well...

could i recomend a volvo 8 series (i think) tank? Its quite a cute affair, round barral type shape wth a clip so it can be mounted onto a flat surface.

I've used Rover 220(89-96)looksuniform and not shaped,bleed fitting as well..
Rover 214 bottlesare good for front mounting,especially bike engines when they are sometimes better at the front.
VW Polo bottles are nice and round and not shaped............These are used on a few baby roadsweepers we look after with golf diesel engines in..I picked up a nice new looking one from the scrappies the other day for £4.

As MikeR suggests. Volvo 7/8 series.
Also look at Volvo 3 series too....

didnt clean my astra bottle - pointless anyway cos I also put barrs leaks in the system and that turns everything shyte brown anyway!

The Dolomite just had a surge bottle -- non presurised just to catch the over flow --- that what you mean ?
In which case the only modern equivalent I can think of is that on some Honda and a few honda powered Rover models, look for a no turbo Rover 620 623 or 618, they have a convection flow rad with a surge bottle & bracket on the drivers side of the rad..

If you do use this system take car you don't end up with a system that air locks when after cools after a run.

I'm in the process of fitting an overflow/recovery type bottle to my car - it's from a Daihatsu (Applause, I think).
You'll see some pictures here.

All it needs is a tapered bit of metal sheet to slip onto - which is what I'm doing at the moment.
