hi can anyone tell me which model sierra used a 3.62 diff ? cheers.
check out the info at the top of the engine and transmission forum.
i have got the codes but just thought it would be easier to know which model for when going to scrapyard
Usually the 4x4 models have the LSD. But you will need to check the numbers on the Diff.
The ratio is stamped on the tag like 362 for a 3.62
Cant say about the LSD bit.
you cant really be 100% sure from the models as nothing was set in stone it seems. Best bet is to check the vin plate under the bonnet as ive never seen one where the code was wrong. U for 3.62 in the box 'axle pt ar'.
my dohc 2l G reg had one 3.62
yes.....2ltr dohc model has 3.62 however it was a 7.5 inch
I'm on my 3rd diff and looking for a 4th I think for various reasons but whenever I've looked around the scrap yards it just seems to be a
lucky dip and it's quite hard to identify what the models are if they've lost their boot or the badge on them.
I just stick with the VIN plate code, it's a bit like Christmas. Struggle to open the bonnet wrapping then get a surprise when you read the code!

Thankyou jacko, nice to know ime not going mad
Ok, I now feel re-educated!
You've got to ask why ford did that!!!
Guess they made too many 7.5" carriers and wanted to use em up!
This any use
Rescued attachment diffratios.jpg
that's what i have, btu it doesn't include the one fly in the ointment "discussed" above!
Looks like some DOHC 2.0 models got the 7.5" diffs.....
The only car above with 7.5" that was sold in the UK would have been the XR4i, as that's the only factory 2wd v6 sierra that was made.
I just realised that attatchment i put up is dated 1987, so i'm thinking the DOHC models like the 2.0GLSi wouldnt be listed.
I do get a feeling though that in the last couple of years of sierra production nothing is as the norm.
