i use an R1 can on my zetec powered six as i find i quieter and a cheaper option than a tiger can. It also gives the same power (BHP) and gives better torque. I am concerned that the exhaust gases including any oil, is pointing straight at the rear tyre. i am worried this might be a bit foolish. has anyone fitted a 45deg. angle pipe as a deflector, or am i worrying about nothing?

Ed - I thought the R1 can had a 45 degree angle on it? I have a website somewhere where you can buy can ends of various angles - I'll have a look.

cheers its got a stubby 45 end about 2" long but it needs another to get the clearance, am i right in thinking its titanium, if so might be dificult to weld?

Depends on the year - the later ones are. Most of the light blue coloured ones are I think.

I stand to be corrected but where they had them I think they were a seperate unit in front of the can.

I took off the end cap and removed the little stubby tailpipe cover. Then made a new tailpipe from a bit of the stainless inlet pipe which had a bend in it already. Drilled and tapped the "real" end pipe and fixed it in place with 3 button heat bolts. It's been on there for 6-12 months so far with no problem.
