I need a shortened sump for my zetec. What choices do i have?? I know scholar do a shortened one and raceline But want something cheaper.

Iv heard cvh sumps will go on and Rusty nuts mentioned it yesterday. Is there some holes that need drilling and tapping? And off what size engine?

Iv got to have the engine out to change the rear crank seal so hought i may aswell change the sump while its out.

My engine is an 1.8 silver top BTW.

We used a 1.8 off a Sierra CVH.

The bolt holes in the sump needed elongating to fit, and 2 new holes needed tapping into the block either side of the front pulley. Bit of a faff, but works well

How desperate are you wanting one, I'm in the process of stripping out mine and it will be for sale along with millions of other stuff.

Not in a desperate hurry mate. As soon as i get my reg (hopefully this week) then it will probably be on a slight back burner as ill be too busy driving it.

I am gonna do it over the next monthish though as the crank seal is quite bad and im sure it will get worse when i start driving it. Probably a rainy day job.

Are you stripping a whole sierra? Can you ear mark me the sump please if it comes off within the next month.

Not stripping a sierra im doing an upgrade on the tiger so the zetec thats in will be getting removed

Oh i see. What sump have you got.

cvh sump ive done a couple.

ALL holes line up with no elongation needed. But it does need a bit of a bash with the hammer to clear the pick up pipe.

You will also need to drill and tap 4 m6 holes . 2 in the water pump and 2 in the rear bearing cap. This is because its not as ridged as the alloy ones.

Newest one you will find will be on a 1992 siearra so expect the ford tin worm.

Its a pain in the arse to take one of in the scrap yard as the engine needs lifting over the cross member to get it out and the gearbox needs to come of to get to the back m6 bolts.
