how much it has cost people to make an exhaust system from bought pipes bends and flanges?

I need a decent new exhaust.
I bought a westfield competition stainless steel exhaust manifold but it doesn't fit my locost. It clashes with the chassis diagonal where it
wants to exit the engine bay.
Silly me. Never mind. but what to do next? Sell the westfield manifold or chop it?
I made my last exhaust system by chopping and rearranging an existing one. Happy do the same with this one but it seems a shame to cut into a nice
piece of kit.
Those that have done it - how much does it cost to make one from bought pipes bends and flanges?
I'd be making a 4 into 1 from 1 5/8" headers and a 2" tailpipe
Any advice generally on economical sources of flange and pipe for exhaust builders?

I bought one of those for mine, ended up cutting and rewelding the diagonal brace.
After that I had to buy a gear reduction starter motor as the manifold fouled the solenoid.
After that I had to get some spacers machined up to push the manifold out to clear the new starter.
With the silencer I bought it all ended up costing me like £500!

I know NS Dev did this and documented it. it might be worth a look for a post by him

I paid around £120 for my westfield manifold off ebay - seen them go for 150 too.
I just cut the diagonal brace on my chassis, welded it 2" higher by the firewall and its fine.
Seemed a lot easier to me
Actually, i think you should sell the car and build a new one around the exhaust :p
NS Dev bought a industrial 2nd hand tig and the bends for less than a brand new simpson exhaust + had enough bends left over to make another
exhaust.
If you're happy with stainless wire in a mig i'd guess you're looking at easily under a hundred quid.

I've just bought a 6M length of 2" 316 for a job. £11 per metre.
2" 316 bends were just under £8 each.
From Aalco.

All the stainless for both my exhausts (one each side) came to about £200 (not the ones in my avatar, they were mild steel and would advise not to use
as rusts too quick) - see blog instead.
I made manifolds from 316 butt weld tube (allstainless.co.uk/com?), can't remember who supplied manifold flanges, had turbo flanges cut to my
design and rest od pipework (for can/perforated tube/straight tube and 3" bends were from milner offroad.
Lot of time - especially the polishing
