comment on this head?

Do these valves look a bit too far recessed into the head? So will the increase in valve height affect the rocker geometry?

Anyone see any problems with that?

I would say it depends on how far off the original it was. If the rocker gear was designed to fit like that then it should be OK. If some geezer in his shed has machined the head and then plonked any old rocker pedastals and shaft on it, it may be a problem.

Difficult to see clearly, but I would expect to see the valve face more or less flush with the face of the cylinder head. No way of knowing from that though whether it's been built with standard length valves and rocker components either.

Is it yours?

In addition its going to effect compression if they are higher than they should/need to be.

Well it certainly isn't going to help with the gas flow, if I'm seeing it correctly.

There's only so much valve lift available and it looks like a fair bit of it is going to be wasted there before there can be any useful gas flow

looks wrong but depends if there is recesses in the pistons to clear the valves when the pistons up. Personally I don't like it but here's another that looks very similar

I think with this kind of head you will need to be very careful if intending to fit a high lift cam, there may be little clearance between the piston and valve and even a single tooth out on the belt would probably cause damage

What is the measurement from the planed face to top of valves? Does anone else know what the same measurement is on a new OE head?
Do you know what the valve lift is?

I don't mean to criticise this head and it may be the reflection that gives the appearance of vavles being further into the head than the ones I have seen; those ones the valves stick out beyond the plane of the head.

don't think its an issue, but engines vary so much it's hard to tell want is normal for this particular one

It's very hard to tell from the photo to be honest, would need a much closer shot. However, the valves should not be flush with the head; if they are the valve seats are significantly recessed. Besides possible valve train geometry issues, this will cost you dearly in terms of low lift valve flow, which is a big chunk of the overall open time of the valve.

It's the head off a indirect injection diesel engine, not a Ford Kent engine, so not really comparable.
