sounds a bit like a shagged diesel - and youd hardly be asking us if it sounded like a normal petrol or diesel - but if its a petrol I wouldnt go far in it!. The indycars I have heard on methanol didnt sound like that.

As a wild shot, could it be hippy's beemer motor ?

Rearrange these letters into a different order then work out what each letter stands for.

Sounds healthy enough to me, but then again I drive a Nissan 2.3 diesel van so anything sounds good.

yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

4x4

I reckon it's a 4x4 - all 4x4's sound this way from underneath when they run over you cos they can't see you when reversing!

Metal Hippys M30B34 big six is a fine engine. 218bhp IIRC, running Bosch Motronic engine mangement. Im only saying this cos the family used to have a couple. Alpina used the basic engine, and twin turboed it to get 360bhp, and 380lbft torque: they called it the B10 biturbo. Wicked car.

Ahem, i'll get me coat.

Ed.
P.S. 3430 cc too. i know FAR too much about those engines!

So.... WT F is it! Cooking oil? Diesel?

Clatters like a diesel, but probably smells like french fries while driving...

it doesnt sound quite diesel'y enough for me.....thats why im starting to wonder if its tuned for petrol but running rough on methanol, and suffering froma bit of pre-ignition.

Plus, with ChrisW apparent choices in cars, it more likely hes into something trick than fish and chips.

i've joined the minority and gone for methanol. sounds bit like dragsters do at idle. not right for a diesel, could be a small petrol engine with the exhaust half off, don't know what cooking oils sounds like in an engine, or if it's any different to a diesel.

Ned.

Sounds like an air powered DA at low speed.

I voted cooking oil, only cos there isn't an air option

I recon it has a dragster type sound too - as ned says - which was what tended to make me change my mind.

Im a methanol man now.

make mine a pint.

What fuel tho' Conrod?

I quite like the idea of Hippy's engine. When he finally admits defeat and gets a Pinto I'll make him an offer for it!
