New toy
Woohoo, just brought the wife a new toy. This lovely little 205 Gti. Only thing is it currently
runs about 180 bhp! It's blinking fast! Just need to persuade the wife to let me drive it now.

There are a couple, and I do mean a couple of surface rust bits, but they will be sorted out next weekend when we go to pick it up. I've also
finally got a car that has nos! Yippeee!

Very tidy!
Wonder if they put all the NOS etc on after they couldn't manage to catch the woman in the BMW!

My fiend had one. He finally knackered the engine trying to change the head gasket.
Misread the manual when torquing down.
Used ft/pounds instead of deg's, snapped the bolt right at the base so we couldn't get it out, car just sat there and rotted out. Bit of
a waste really.

The BMW incident happened at some red lights near the M40, which the Beemer then bu**ered off onto. He used to be a panel beater so didn't
bother chasing. It doesn't really look as if it's been bashed at all now! But got a new boot lid for it anyways!

Is it the 1.9 or 1.6? A mate had a 1.9 and that was damn fast even 4 up!!!

I think DIY SI's pug is a 1.9 GTI if the wheels are the standard one's for the model. Mine was the 1.6 GTI version and mine was like a
gocart!

It used to be a 1.9 gti but it now has the 1905cc mi16 engine and it goes like stink!

I've often said what happened to all the 205 GTi's.
At one time the roads were full of 1.6 and 1.9 GTi's but you don't see any these days.
I always thought the 1.9's were great cars but like most Scoobies are either well shagged or end up in a hedge.
Always liked them though. Guy I used to know made a mint out of doing Dimma body kits.
If I could find a tidy 1.9 I'd snap it up for fun.
Nice
I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

What ever you do, or she does, do not lift off if the front starts to wash out, i know i did it in my 309GTi and spent the next couple of months
rebuilding the thing, it just snapped round.

Thats the best bit, they do lift off oversteer a treat! The rear beam bearings collapsed on my 1.9, apparently quite common, might be worth keeping
an eye on

very nice....drool, drool
As my username might suggest, I have a serious soft spot for these little french fancies. Should never have sold the 2 I had (bloody mortgages).
I've seriously considered selling the Indy as soon as it's SVA'd just to fund another 205. I have always wanted to do my own Mi16
conversion
Hope you enjoy the car Si (if the wife let's you in the driving seat).
Cheers
Nick

I'm hoping to get it on the track, but it will be the wife's tin top too, so can't afford to break it much. The previous owner only
tracked it once for the same reason. Nick, having driven it, you really do want on of these. I will have serious issues keeping up in my BEC! The
things sooooo much quicker than I was expecting it to be. When testing it I suddenlly looked down at the speedo and realised I was doing 120!! I just
shoed it off the line and was just about to go to 5th. Only been driving for about 15 secs too! May require a road angel though, or I can
kiss my licence good bye.

Sounds like the ideal run around for the missus!
Strip it bare, sell the bits and get a nice Fiat Uno for the shopping, then use the 205 on the track!
