Apple HiFi, Any good?

Has anyone got one of these Apple Hifi's? I am thinking of changing my Cambridge Audio A1 amp and Kef 1.2's for one of these wizzy single units to save space and make my office look a bit funkier.

The reviews from various sites are promising but wondered what you lot think as you are all the tops for advice.

I'd get the Bose version. Only £220, and probably much better than the Apple, as Bose are damn doog with little speakers. The missus has one in black (they also come in white) and I was very impressed. It can shake the whole house if you turn it up enough!

For funky looks... Bang & Olufsen.
For good sound, I personally would stick with what you have. Both got good reps.
I have only dealt with Bose professional equipment....SH1TE!

Alot of reviews on the Apple site said that people had Bose version and they went for the Apple.

Confused...you will be. Looks like a trip to an Apple store!! YAY!

not BOSE, everyone knows it stands for BUY OTHER SOUND EQUIPMENT, a quick google search reveals how they actually perform

Read around first, the common assumption they are high end equipment is totally unfounded.

The apple unit looks pretty rubbish - you'd be much better off buying a £100 amp and a £100 pair of speakers

Forget it Andy, stick with proper hi-fi equipment designed by sound and electronics engineers. Not something designed by a fashion designer aiming to please those fools who think a decent stereo costs £100 from currys...

Keep the CA amp and the Kef's, I reckon you'll be dissapointed with the Apple unit. Proably great for a teenagers bedroom etc. but still overpriced.

As for BOSE, well don't get me started. Put a big enough price tag on something and people will convince themselves it's top notch kit.

There's nothing wrong with my Bose speakers thank you very much. They are an excellent bit of kit, they replaced my v.expensive hi-fi, 10 times better. Dosen't take up much space either

I have to say, no disrespect, but Bose is all Lifestyle. If you want real hi-fi, budget(or better!) separates rule hands down.

Having said that, always listen first before buying, its wahts right for you!

My friend has Bose home theatre, i have heard Bose PC speakers and that small white unit (CD/Radio) they do and i must say they all blew me away with there quality sound.

I have never heard anyone say that Bose are anything but superb and i'm suprised that some think otherwise. I guess people like the way certain systems sound.

Despite using cheap and nasty components Bose use a combination of very clever marketing and equaly clever equalistion that appear to make their stuff sound ok to many of people. They are also litigious cretins and will sue the ass of anyone that dares to say different.

Compare it next to some HiFi kit and you will be blown away by the improvement in clarity, detail and sound stage. Bose stuff would be fine if it was sold for what it is, a fairly budget lifestyle system, but it's firmly priced towards high end HiFi where it simply doesn't belong.
