Can't believe the price it has reached - i like Bond Bugs, but you could get a great car for that money

i have always liked bond bugs too - but i think it may not be cred to admit it! The mechanicals are based on the reliant regal. My father in law had a regal - sounded and went like a motorised dustbin, and i recon the bug may well be a dissapointment. Unless of course, it gets an upgrade

Went in the one that was for sale on ebay a while ago at Melbourne drag strip. Open diff so loads of wheelspin till it got a grip and then went like a rocket. It had an R1 in. The kid then sold it to his mate and was building one with a Holeshot Hayabusa turbo in it and a slippy diff. Chris at Z-cars made him a rollcage for it.

Do they make stabilisers for them aswell? With bike power I would want at least one more wheel.

I always remember the story of Colin Chapman and a Bond Bug. CC had just bought a bug, was outside Lotus looking at it and let one of his employees have a go - at the first corner on the drive to the factory the guy turned it over! Needed a bit of Lotus handling tweaking I guess.

Mines bog standard or should I say 'bug' standard!. 700cc of raw power about 4bhp!!!! I've put the project on hold until the Locost is finished. It only cost me £200 off my dad...bargain!

Wasn't there a 4 wheeled kit version produced in the 90's, obviously not by Bond though

There are a few four wheeled Bugs around but these are ones that have been modified by their owners. Bond also made a range of micro cars including four wheelers like the Equipe.

The one I remember was a commercially available kit, it was featured in one of the Filby mags
