Is that not like the bike Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman went round the world on?

The newer model

They had an 1150GS, this is a 1200GS.

It has 90lbft It'll keep up with superbikes on the A roads

Loads of mods to come, grille, protection bars, exhaust etc.

They tried this in the ADR and apparently it wasn't as good as they thought it would be which is probably why they are also building bike engined options. Nice car though, superbly machined!

Nice Bike there too!

I knew a bloke who went through three gearboxes on his one of those!

A BMW with 90ft lb/90bhp and 225kg will not keep up with (for eg) a Hayabusa with 101ft lb / 175 bhp and 215kg. Trust me

Shaft drive?

Sucks your BHP up. They are geared for touring not acceleration and top end. Big improvement on the 1150GS from write ups though.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I don't count the Hayabusa, blackbird or ZX12R as superbikes, they are more than that.

Superbikes are Fireblades, ZX9Rs etc.

Ned, that'd be a V8

MG ZT 260 SE manual box. The Rover 75 V8 has an auto.

Like it lots. Unfortunately, I filled it up the other day, and have so far managed 150 ish mile on 3/4 of a tank

Never mind

They really are great cars! A friend was so dissapointed with his brand new Imprezza he got shot of it after 6 months and bought one of these and reckons he never gets out of the car without a grin on his face.

I truly doubt that the BMW could even hang with the 600 class bikes. Zx6r, GSXR 600, or the R6. Let alone the 750, 1000, or 1200+ cc super bikes.

The current crop of 600 supersport are all sub 400 lb machines, and have more tourqe:

'96 GSXR 600 - 96 hp/

'04 zx6r - 114 hp

Neither of these 2 bikes are the latest and greatest model out there, and the '96 did have some headwork done to it (according to the website) but the new 600's, GSXR has 118 hp, the new R6 has 120, and the new Zx6R has 117.

I believe that the Zx6R is a closer representation of the current supper 600's, the newer one gained som top end HP and TQ, plus it flattened out the curves a bit for a more consistent acceleration.

Not only that they are sport bikes designed to be fast around corners and be able to accellerate on a dime. The BMW is a touring/dual sport bike, while it may be a great all purpose bike, I truly doubt that it can hang with the lowly 600's at all.
