new toy!
Well since selling the kit car I've had a couple of bikes - 1 MX bike and 1 middle weight road bike (old fazer) to go with my supermoto (pit
bike).
decided a few weeks ago to take the plunge and start racing, but I'm crap at MX so thats out - the pit bike races are mostly down south, the
nearest race is 126 miles away and are usually on a sunday which doesn't fit with my family life.
Then I discovered a local motorsport club racing on a track 20 minutes from my house I never knew was even there! and they race on saturdays.
perfect!
Found out of a mate who knows his stuff the best value class and took the plunge earlier in the week to buy a cbr600 steel frame (1996ish) track
bike.
planning on doing some track days next year, and then going to race the year after.
This one has race fairing, clipons, braided lines, adjustable rear shock, 4-1 exhaust system, rear sets, and v5 - bit scruffy, but not fussed.
If like me your thinking of racing but dont fancy long weekends away all over the country to make it happen, then its worth calling up your local
motorsport club - hopefully it will work out well
Anyone tracked/raced a cbr600 steel frame?

Excellent Andy
I had a ZX6 trackbike before upgrading to the 'Blade - lots of fun.
May be meet you at a track sometime for a trackday ?
You didn't get a ZX9 engine in that job lot that you bought did you ?
I need one for a new project.

Going to be putting a mid engined track car together next year - I got the chassis off Paul on here.
Go on, tempt me with a price for the ZX12 via U2U if you like - it'll probably be over my planned budget - but tempt me anyway
My mate who I go to bike trackdays with rides a steel framed CBR6 - to very good effect - he does me on the brakes all the time - tw*t

Project sounds good, looking foward to the build thread

How did you find the old style Fazer? Thinking of getting one as a return to bikes (sold my last Fireblade about 5 years ago). Does it still have
enough poke to be a giggle?
Good luck with the racing too!

Track is Aintree.
Fazer is quite good. Engine is strong for size/age. Very practical, good build quality, solid handling (but it's no fireblade)
Ive fitted some flat bars and it's much improved, the stock bars are uncomfortable and cramped.
Centre stand is good, but gets in the way a bit when not in use.
I commuted on it 75 miles a day for a few months last year - went fine.
Mine is an old T reg, 50k on the clock but still going strong.
Might be up for sale to fund the cbr. I've just got to fit a new swingarm bearing.

A couple of us in work have been discussing this, but the nearest track to me (Castle Combe) is 140 miles each way

Ahh. It's funny how the original home of the British GP is so unknown these days.

To be fair, the last GP ran there was the year my DAD was born, but I'm pleased I've found it!
