Hole in the market??
Just been shopping for a paddling pool online, and i was thinking why dont they make them with a black base to warm the water? Cant find one
anywhere, so would it not work with it being under water? or would it just not raise the temp by any noticeable amount. I know when you switch the
hose pipe on the first bit of water is nice and warm, there must be some way to take the chill off!

A black pool looks unpleasant to everyone except Stevie Wonder, but more importantly water is a very good absorber of IR. For a black base to heat
the water, the depth would need to be in the order of mm.
The reason why your hose pipe heats the water is because the water is on the inside.

So whats needed is a slow pump, in a long length of matt black hosepipe, which sucks the water from the pool, as it travels round the pipe it warms up
and is then drops back in the pool.
Patent Pending......

You can buy solar heated camping showers, basically a black rubber bladder you fill with water. Its amazing how quick you get warm water.
But, I think you are missing the obvious point. Kids want COLD water on a hot day, not warm water.

Also, who wants a warm paddling pool?
When its sunny you want a nice cool pool.
You might want a warm pool when its colder out, but when its cold out there is no sun to heat it!

You want a fairly warm pool, even on a hot day. Heart attack inducing cold shock is only fun for those watching. Dark matt surfaces absorb sun light
and get warm but I'm not sure you'd notice in a paddling pool.
Camping showers work but only on a very sunny day. You can get solar collectors that heat swimming pools but they're too much of a fixed
feature for a paddling pool. Nice idea though.

Why not make the sides of the paddling pool out of the matt black hose in a massive coil?
Small pump circulating the water from top to bottom in and out of the pool - job done.
On the other hand if most peoples kids are anything like mine, the water stays in the pool for so little time it's not worth warming it

The water warms up nicely if you can stop evaporation - Put a layer of clear bubblewrap floating on the pool. (see swimming pool 'solar
covers'

we made a solar pool heater.
Basically used a few meters of black water feature hose, wrap it round in a coil and mounted it to a base, angled the base in to the sunlight. Then
using the pump from the pool filter and an adjustable splitter so we can adjust water flow rate.
We ended up with a very good heater. But as said you need constant sun.
obviously the fast it went, the less the temperature rise was, and a nice slow trickle gave about 40-50 degree water coming out. So once a good
balance was found it worked nicely

For a laugh and because I feel like being an ar*e does this mean IYHO that the water in a paddling pool is on the outside??
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

actually you are correct; my bad.
the pipe has the pipe bit between the source of IR (the sun) and the water whereas there is nothing in between the water and the IR source in the
paddly pool
