Passing IVA must be more rewarding but,
after an 18 month rebuild, and the zetec conversion, my MGB just passed its MOT 1st time, with no advisories, I'm one happy bunny.
Car owes more to Kit car building than restoring, Thanks to everyone on here who has helped with tips and advice.
Next stop DVLA Sheffield to get the pre 72 'free' road tax sorted.

Yes thats gone now, made a proper stay up.
Its the first resto in a long time - 15 years, done a couple of MGB V8's before, a classic capri.
The next project is beconing already, DAX Cobra, or an E Type....

I've always fancied doing a restoration project. Looked at doing a Porsche 914 a while back but reckon as a first project it'd be too
expensive and difficult to source parts for. (Besides having no knowledge whatsoever of restoring vehicles)

Go for the E Type Pete , i have had many happy times in one of those flying through Germany , it sadly wasnt owned by me but a German workmate who
bought it at he right price in the UK.
Or maybe a XK 120/150S

I am getting confused.
The MGB passed MOT with stick on plates on the bonnet?
Good on you, I like them, but everywhere it says plates must be readable from front!!

Jamster, they're Kawasaki ZXR750 carbs on a Boggs manifold, I'm using a megajolt lite jr and edis for sparks, got a basic working map at
the moment, but the next trip is up to Boggs for a setup.
Designer, yes it went through MOT just like that, there is no 'law' that says stick on plates are illegal, jut the visible from the front
clause, E Types left the fatory with them till late in their production run, have a look at craigs plates website.
Hellfire, go for it, the B is probably one of the easiest cars to restore parts availability wise, but, the kit to produce the panels is now 50+ years
old, so the fit is not as good as it once was. Tons of info out there too. Depends what you want, but most of the classic british sports cars are well
catered for.

i did a zetec conversion in a mgb at the begginig of the year for a good friend ive got to say that it absolutly transforned the car , a very
worthwhile conversion

Very nice car.
Regarding stick-on plates. The current rules require the thing to have the appropriate BS mark (how appropriate!). None of the stick-on ones have
this, so they shouldn't pass MOT.
There may be some pre-something excemption, but my guess it is like loads of these things. As long as it brakes and steers and that sort of thing,
then the MOT man doesn't worry about silly details like this.
Craigsplates sell the stick-on ones as "show plates" and to remain within the law have to ship them from abroad!
