Im going racing!!!!
After selling the indy i decided i was going to do a bit a grass kart racing. Spent a small fortune on parts and donor karts/motox bikes to build a
grass kart. After watching some proper track kart racing i was hooked!! Urm spent too much on stuff i dont need anymore. DAM!!
So what do i do......................

i mean for that type of kart
i can't have a racing license for medical reasons thought i'd never be allowed to race. had never thought of karting.

I raced karts for 10 years, (100's, rotaxmax, gearbox) I can't recommend it enough. Put in for your arks test and go racing you wont
regret it. Blake, I also thought that I wouldn't be able to race as i'm a diabetic which is something that the msa are down on, but after
seeing the msa's own doctor in London he gave me the okay, so maybe there's a possibility for you if your still interested in racing.

i think things have changed from when i done karting referance licences, think you just need to check with where you are thinking of going, think if
its a MSA track and you wanting to compete not just pratice need to start with a novice MSA licence, if non MSA affiliated might get away with less. i
had 4 years 250E gearbox racing and even thought recently at 40+ of giving it another go as great fun.

Hi
I will confirm for sure that Diabetics can get a MSA licence. I have been diabetic for 25 years and was able to continue racing after the MSA had to
change there position after a EU ruling.
If anyone would like any info or help give me a U2U.

I was racing my kart at the weekend, great fun and doesn't break the bank unless you take it too seriously.
There's some serious money spent by some, but it doesn't always make them quicker!!

I raced karts 1975 - 1982
I raced in class 100 Nat ( Zip Komet k77) , 210 Villiers gearbox (Barlotti Upton villiers), and 125 National ( GP rotax).
Used to tune my own motors , spent hours on it , porting changing liners, adjusting compression/squish etc.
Entries were only about £10 - £15 then!
Did some short circuit , Rye House ,Surbiton,Camberley,Tilbury.
But more long circuit Brands, Thruxton,Snetterton, Oulton Park, Donington, Lydden,Cadwell Park.
Ending with this masterpiece at the 1982 Silverstone 125 Kart GP

I used to race rotax max, best fun ive ever had.
To the chap above, there is a heavier weight class, rotax 177. So theres somewhere everyone can have a bash
I had a bad off and stopped doing it, but im seriously considering another go!

yep, I am 6'1'' and more than 13 stone! you would make weight easier for relevant class.
Cost for a season depends, I do non MSA so there are no licence costs. For me it is roughly:
Entry: £37 a time
Membership: £15 a year
Fuel for races: £5
Tyres: £20 (for 5 races, I use second hand tyres and the circuit I am at is lower grip so doesn't eat them, Rotax or the like will need new
tyres, circa £100 a set).
Consumables: £30 a meeting (chain lube, sprocket (does 4 meets) chains (does 4 meets)
Can't think of any other bits.
It then depends how much damage there is, I reckon that it costs me about £70-100 a meet (and that is a true cost, not trying to convince myself its
less).

Broken thigh ,12" pin inserted for a year or two + broken heel bone, the heel/ankle will never be right .
But could have been a lot worse!

Where do you race? Your class sounds like the one i want to be in.
