Project Abandoned, Registered car Bought!
Well,
I know it kinda goes against the name of my avater, but hey, i dont care.
After a few recent personal complications, a change of job, less time in the garage, and a bargain coming along, i bought the Dutton that was for sale
on here last week.
After meeting with Lee for a couple of hours, and talking over the car i decided to bite the bullet, and just get on the road.
 
Dutton 1

Car comes with 1300 X-Flow,Wet weather gear, trimmed (albeit in diahorrea colour) and ready for tax the on the road.
The original build isnt dead just yet (dont tell the missus) and ill keep the chassis hanging from the ceiling until i need some metal, or get a
chance to continue it. I might have a few bits available for sale soon theough. Watch this space.
I know its not the best looking kit on the road, but its a 73 plate (not Q) and already on the road for the right price!!! 
I should be at the next SG7's meet, but will see. I need to get it home yet, and the problems sorted!

Stillplanning on a 2.9 transplant, but i think ill try and blow the crossflow up first just in time for winter!!!

I think you've made a good choice there. Drive it for a while, do some improvements over the winter, drive it some more.
Dutton owners club is still going strong, so I understand. Ideal, enjoy

Looking at the Dutton Owners website now. Lots of members, and im not sure if theyll agree with what ive got planned for it!!

Just have fun with it over the summer, and make your mods in the Winter.
I don't know if you've driven a 7 before, but if not, you will find out that even a 1300cc Dutton will go pretty well!

Thats exactly the plan. Any major mods will be done when not taxed, in the winter.
Ive driven a few, and used to track day a mates tiger every other week!

1300cc dutton should certainly be 80's GTi fast if the engine is in good shape, which is enough to get you started - the Locost racers certainly
seem to manage ok with a bit of tuning.
Not a thing of great beauty, but if you manage to sort out the body mods I think you have planned it'll look very different

i love my dutton and without them there would not of been the boom in kitcars sales in the 80's ,i have a 1973 dutton b-type and love it lets
face it there not common anymore.
for what i have spent on it so far i could have got a a new top of the range kit car easy.i know i spent over £6000 so far...
but dont tell the mrs

Finances dependant, yes it wll!! Also depends on the guy that said he could help me out with a shell pulling through for me though im pulling some
other options together just in case!

Now you have it take some dimensions....I actually quite like the shape of the rear of the Dutton

I've always liked the Phaeton and really did want to build one 25 years ago, but enthusiam far exceeded ability unfortunately
I think you should chuck a Rover V8 and auto box in

I built an S2 Phaeton with a 3ltr V6. That went really well. Driving it back then, in 1982, it was comparatively so much quicker than any ordinary
car. On the dual carriageways around Plymouth it was like driving a car in a video game.
This was a manual, but that was what I had. would not have hesitated to fit an auto if I had had that instead.

I found that last night, so ive kept it aside for now. It is narrower than the Dutton, so id need flared arches to fit it.

I can't believe some of the comments in this thread...... is everyone feeling ok?
Strange! Not a nasty word said!
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.
