Completely OT and if you have it you’ll know what it is but I need a good close up of this emblem...
yip I've spent hours searching on the web but to no avail. Anyone got it in hi-res so I can laser print a 5 inch decal? maybe someone took a
close up or has a good picture???
cheers

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

hmm I've been told this is a squadron emblem rather than a personal one as I had originally thought, there may be hope yet

Yeah that'll definitely be a Sqn emblem (I'm current RAF aircrew), can't find it on Google but I'm convinced I've seen
it before - try Luftwaffe museums?

von richthofen's squadron was Jg71, but that's not their emblem!

oh poop, just read...
quote:
The unit marking was a black and white band wrapped around the fuselage just behind the cockpit. Each pilot selected/designed a personal marking that
would be painted aft of the unit marking between it and the fuselage cross.
drat looks like I still need to trawl the web

It could be a Bavarian regiment/squadron, as the flag of Bavaria has those blue and white diamond shapes on it.

Still looking but closing in I think, found this though the resolution is low, the marking is the same. It’s for my 1/4 scale plane that’s getting the
finishing touches to it. If you could find it, that would be a huge help. As the picture says its on a Jasta 21 plane, this is the one I'm
actually modeling - linky
Though it’s the current paint scheme I'm using...
Any help would be very much appreciated

It was actually fun trying to find it as strange as that sounds. I found it in a PDF document called (Profile Publications, Profile No.9,
"Albatros D.V". If you Google that, the top result will take you to the download page for the PDF, it might be useful for reference as it
has a couple of diagrams of the plane your are modeling though I would note that the Emblem is facing the wrong way on the left side as the lion
should be facing forward on both sides.

Just after downloading the PDF, superb masses of detail
I hope to win some prizes with this plane and I'll post some pictures once its finished
