What do you reckon?
Hi all
This is quite possibly a stupid idea but looking for thoughts or suggestions.
I have been offered on of these for next to nothing:

So I'm thinking about rebuilding it as something like this:

What i i'm after is your thoughts on problems, will it just cost too much? don't want to spend too much but reasonable budget available.
Engine tuning shouldn't be too much of a problem but think it has a gas suspension setup at the rear and I've never messed with these.
Want it to be track car but thats drivable to the track.
so What do you reckon?
Cheers in advance

Why not just track the Locost?
It'll a little better!

I quite like that
I dont think it would cost too much after you have sold all the interior and done abit of weight saving
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Is it the earlier MGF with hydrogas suspension? Looks ok without the screen so you could always start doing the cosmetic bits before moving on to the
suspension / engine etc. Would make quite a fun trackday car i recon - certainly different hey.
You might want to think carefully about the rollbar there though - the windscreen on the F acts as a roll bar as well as screen frame
Bit of light reading

If it's dead cheap then i would make sure it's 100% and sell it. Those care are not great!

thats not actually the one it was just a pic I found on autotrader to demonstrate the question. The one I can get my hands on is from a friend.
It is a bit of a hairdressers car but can be made to look better so might give it a try.
The hydrogas suspension stuff doesn't sound as difficult as I thought.
It's the 1.8 so if anybody has plaid with these whats the best tuning mods?
There are chassis points to attach roll bar too so figured cobra style hoops would suit.

If you look closely, the red one even has a blow dryer where the passenger roll hoop should be, as well as a handy mirror fixed at eye
