Political compass

Sure to rouse a good debate! Take the test, compare yourself to hilter, stalin, pol pot or even Dubbya!

http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

Im -2 both axis in the bottom left, slightly communist libertarian.

I'm the following:

Economic Left/Right: -4.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

Which leaves me closest to the Dalai Lama, Gandhi and Nelson Mandela

To be honset, it's the best company compared to some of the other people on the graph!

Actually, it's pobably all a bit rubbish as you are forced to choose positives or negatives where as a lot of the questions I was looking for a 'no preference' - maybe that say's something about me too

It posed some interesting questions, but most credible politicians would reword some of the questions easily to coerce different answers...

No prizes for guessing I was in the bottom left:

Economic Left/Right: -3.75, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.79

So whereabouts should "healthily cynical" appear in the graph?

Economic = -4.12
Social = -2.26

So when do I start running the country?

economic -6.38, Libitarian -1.23. Quite close to Ghandi, aparently. Almost diametrically opposed to Thatcher.

Interestingly, it puts Gordon Brown as about 50% right wing and 20% authoritarian.

Economic Left/Right: -2.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.67

And I've no idea what that means. Maybe Hitler was on the right path?

Perhaps it's deliberate. Few people are absolutley neutral and lean one way or the other if they stop to think about it.

Is our collective leftieness a feature of our car building tendancies or our willingness to do internet quizes?

Im close to Ghandi and Nelson too.

For several questions id prefer to see a neutral answer but was forced to choose agree or disagree.

Their FAQ section has a few words on this. They want to make people think rather than let them cop out on trick questions.

I gave up half way through the second page. I refused to be forced to either have a positive or negative point of view on many of the issues.
I felt the questions were forcing me to take a far left position

I'm slightly right wing libertarian, but just about straight down the middle of the compass.

Might not have been so had there been more questions about my views on criminals and other leaches of the state!

The mental gymnastics a landlord will employ to justify immoral actions is clinically fascinating. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral.
