Hypothetical 'what car would you buy for 10K'
So, if you had 8-10k to spend on a car - what would you buy?
Criteria are: familyish car, though 3 door is ok, must have 2 proper back seats, reliable and well built without killer repair bills. Must have
reasonable boot and access - hatchbacks are good. Enjoyable and rewarding to drive, but good on long distances. Must have 'style' ....
I'm sure you lot will have a few opinions.....

Yeah - cos I really want my daily drive as a £250 locost (if there really is such a thing....)
So far most things suggested were already on my list of possibles, expect the Focus Sport - nice idea, the Mini - hate it, my Mum has one, the worst
plasticy dash I've ever seen in a car, and the Fiat Coupe - it's Italian and you know it's gonna be unrealiable....
Audi A3 Quattro is top of list so far.

If you don't mind something with a bit of mileage on it, then you could pick up an Audi RS4. Probably on a S or T plate. Nice 2.7 twin turbo.

Just get a 3 door focus with a duratec engine about a year old from a trade centre, then with the money you save out of the 10K you could go on a
rally to Sardinia

Anything from the VW group, even a Skoda if you can put up with the badge. A3 I reckon is the smartest buy.

Currently all Alfa's are barred from my company vehicles list due to previous co. car owners experiencing total unreliability... nice looking,
but that's where the success story ends...

The skoda fabia vrs is much better than most would expect. Used to have one until i put it through a crash barrier. Whilst that may not be the best
advertisment, they are quite quick, handle well and good on fuel. Same 130 bhp engine as the vw/audis.

I thought you had to be about 12 to own an impreza? Or have a really big dustbin strapped to the back?

All I have to say about that is it's german:
http://www.andywhittaker.com/Audi/blownup.htm
My suggestion would be MG ZS 180.
But then if I had 10k to spend, I'd buy a blower for my ZT260 and pocket the rest for future maintenance
