JEPY - 12/9/08 at 08:59 PM

Saw it on 5th gear and even though it's wallowy and badly built... I want one!

Bit expensive for what it is though!?

That's no way to talk about Vicky B H!

clairetoo - 12/9/08 at 09:02 PM

that is fugly Whats it supposed to be ?

JEPY - 12/9/08 at 09:14 PM

Supposed to be a modern version of the challenger - not a pretty as the original but I still like the fact they're still trying to build muscle cars in the states!

And I'd never say VBH was wallowy or badly built! Quite the opposite

As above, it's Chrysler's latest take on this:

1970 challenger
1970 challenger

Must admit I prefer the looks of the original, but you must congratulate them for making something more interesting than the usual.

want want want!

you can keep VBH though...

Handling should be poor it's a US icon.

It isn't clear whether the new versions of the classics (i.e. new mustang) will stand up as classics or just look silly with time.
Probably look silly in the UK, but I think its great.

These list at ~$41k in the USA, so £47k seems expensive. Not that I am going to buy one.

Nope rather have VBH. Mmmm

American cars never handle. They are boats with big engines. I remember the first time I had a ride in a Rolls (in 1978 Blackpool), and I couldn't help thinking that my mum's "luxury wagon" as we used to call it - Chevrolet Laguna, was basically the same ride.
That new one would have trouble fitting on your A or B roads.

You can keep the car - but i'll take VBH off your hands even if she is a rubbish driver (having seen her at Oulton Park trying to race!)

the car looks a littlebit dodgy

speedyxjs - 13/9/08 at 06:49 AM

Iv wanted that car since i saw the concept

ditchlewis - 13/9/08 at 06:50 AM

the car looks impressive in the flesh. i saw it parked with a yellow vette in the carpark of the copdock holiday inn in ipswich last week.

i used to love us musle cars until i realised that they handled like super tankers.

mmm seems like the current score is VBH 50 - Challenger 3!!

They loosely followed the concept except the interior might as well be a Mondeo - where is the polished Ali and leather?

30 miles on the clock or not, guts of £50k is a lot for a barge!

That new Challenger has more European equipment than you realize. The chassis is a shortened Chrysler 300, which is mostly S series Mercedes Benz. There are three engines, 6 litre Hemi, and two V-sixes available about 3.5 litres, I believe one is dual overhead 24 valve. It was designed while Mercedes had a major share of Chrysler. One added note, it is only built in CANADA, along with the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.
