So then what have all you locosters been doing today then?
Working 7.30am till 1.30, then lunch, then swimming, then started car for the fun of it, then quick kip.
Tomorrow, go to Detling then get old PC from MiL, and try and get my Emerald to communicate with it.
Then I might start making the bonnet
ATB
Simon
looking in dispair at the state of my bodywork
thought i'd put my gearbox in place to see how it looks and oil spilled out the tail casing (i thought it was empty, and nothing leaked in the
car when i collected it ) all over the garage floor.
welded a plate back onto a neighbours lawnmover, and blew a hole in the casing... well, several holes. the metal was very thin.
accidentally set fire to said lawnmover. blew out the fire and blew burning grass into my face (its difficult to get all the grass out)
managed to clean out my spray gun properly though lol
a very productive day
Started the pinto after 5.5 months off the road roll on may 1st
Working.Boo! Someone else did a thread like this not so long ago and I was bloody working then
Finished and fitted my new bonnet, and fabricated a vent for the side of the car.
David
trying my hand at welding a pipe onto rocker cover for overflow, with a arc. 3hours later more holes, now need liquid metal to fill it all
Finished plumbing the fuel lines through the transmission tunnel. Starting to look more and more like a car
Car as of 12/04/08
Spent this morning doing some finishing off jobs on daughters house.
Made an airbox for the zzr1100 carbs from a race can sleeve, pics soon.
fetling and painting the radiator panel for my Carawagon Land Rover. Tok it off and botom was lace so welded a new lip on then realsied I needed to
strip and paint the whole thing! Two coats of primer ran out of sand paper will need another round of filler and sanding tomorrow before final coat of
primer AARGH I hate paintwork!
Caber
Ive been putting lining paper on my new house! same as yesterday.
No more to do though now
went done the pub and played some pool.
Spent most of the day making this air filter housing out of 1 piece of aluminium - spent more time making the formers than making the thing itself!
Happy with the way it came out though - it's nice when a plan in you head works out in reality.
[Edited on 12/4/08 by David Jenkins]
fiited a choke cable that doesn't work to well.
fitted new handbrake handle, that works and is very bling
eventually found the blown fuse that was stopping all guages and dash working, was a small irritation in the dark.
fitted 4 female cigarette sockets under dash on remote power switches so can now have sat nav running off power and not internal 2 hour battery and
can charge phone on the go.
washed car, very much needed
went for quick 10 miler when it EVENTUALLY stopped raining
ohh, and a new gear stick cover. piccies to follow
I had a quick play of my mates new arc welder today which I enjoyed as I've never used one before (Neither had he). I also managed to get a few more pieces of the transmission tunnel cut and tacked. I can almost see the end of the chassis build coming into sight now. Has took me long enough really
Spent a few hours off and on, half harted on a tin-top with snaped cambelt
Carb loading for the marathon tomorrow and pinning my number on my top.
Driving the Kit, Drinking beer, and going shoppng for wedding flowers (she made me do one can you guess which)
Is that the London marathon? I need to know. I had the worst hangover ever a good few years back now off Vodka, couldn't eat properly for a week and the morning of the hangover the London marathon was on telly. I can't watch it now, makes me feel sick

Spent most of the day trying to legally bypass the codes on a bank alarm system and guess what it cant be done. So really a waste of time. I dont know which part of the sentence "DO NOT DISCONNECT THIS POWER SUPPLY" the bloody electrician didnt understand.
DIY
Fitted a light into the apre room, then spent about 2.5 hrs jet washing all the hard standing outside my house. Jet washer cost £30 of ebay for 160
bar jobby - and it BLASTS the grim straight off! We were thinking of redoing all the flags and concrete at £££'s and I did it all today so it
looks great for the price of about 1000 ltrs of water (we aint on a meter!)
Just need to bush it all off once its dried out, fill the crags between flags with sand and DONE!
woke up,
changed sons nappy.
Looked in mirror, shuddered. Went and registered my son's birth with the local authorities, got back.
changed nappy.
Went for a mad dash for curtains and carpet for his nursery, bought first thing we saw as he was screaming, got home,
changed nappy.
Fitted door frame, architrave and finished inside the nursery cupboard.
Changed nappy.
Little git pooed on the half-on new nappy.
Changed nappy again.
continued working on nursery, clearing the debris, set the Fein to task and lifted a couple of floorboards that need replacing before the carpet
comes.
Changed nappy.
Realised I'd run out of new floor boards, replaced originals.
Changed nappy.
Got fed up so took the dremel to my computer case so the oversize PSU will fit in it without the case being half open and jury rigged wires leading
all over the place.
Changed nappy.
Realised I've forgotten to go food shopping, there is nothing for me and the missus to eat.
Bugger.
[Edited on 12/4/08 by Delinquent]
Played with kids, listened to more tracks from the 'Fill this thread with music.......' thread.
Read instructions for new shed - started p*ssing down with rain so abandoned that idea.
Painted suspension bits with chassis black and front and rear bumpers with POR15. Once again forgot that POR15 doesn't come off skin and a new
lesson that draper face masks don't stop aerosol paint - so got a nose full of black snot.
Made tea (self assembly Fajitas)
Going in bath with a glass of red wine next.
Spent most of the day watching e-bay for an engine I did eventually win. Which means I might be at Stoneleigh in it this year! Oh, and I was at work this morning. Soon to be off down the pub for a celebratory beverage.
Took the car to a mates garage, helped change oil and filter on another mates car, never got round to checkin the re pack on his exhaust.
Put my car on ramp, removed grass and mud from sump nut so i can replace it in dads drive at a later date.
Removed drivers side wheel to check rear pads, couldn't get cover off without bending bits so have left it till i have new shoes.
Put Pressure bleeder on MC, bled drum, went to nearside wheel, drum fell off, pads are coated in in dot 4, cylinder has popped. Phone autoquip, only
have pants brand parts. Drive to halfords, quote shoes as FBS176, halfords shoes start @ 188 so none in stock and no cylinder either.
Phone autoquip order pants parts to get it working, catch last van, wrong parts arrive (Bits for an estate... poo!)
Put it all back together, lift it to check the car over (Even tho the rears are going to be pants) Realise the MC is leaking and needs to be replaced
too!
Getting better Wooo!
Get home, find parts and prices ok, MC is £105.... WHY? Why cant it be the £35 one?
Went to see the Missus and played on the Wii
Fitted:
Battery terminal covers.
Clamp for the choke cable.
Top ball joint covers.
Tried to pickup a 1/4 inch spanner for the wilwood bleed nipples (without any luck).
Removed the nosecone and tried to think about a quick solution for the steering rack limit stops.
Finished of my aeroscreen see picture, then spent ages sanding down my seat bases again after the paint reacted all in primer again now ready for
another attempt at top coat
(doofus) came round with his fuel tank and fabricated swirl pot for me to weld up for him
coffee bit of a chat bit of welding another coffee bit more welding and so on till job done!
Another mate came round with a cable i needed to re flash my cable box after N*L decided it would be a good idea to make it more difficult to get free
cable TV , my box is now up and running so ended up doing my mates as well
Tomorrow gloss on the seats and wire up the rear of my car, its starting to look like i may make stoneleigh after all.
Dave.....
had to work this morning
be grumpy as didn't win the oscilloscope I was bidding for on ebay as bid a couple of picosecnds after it ausction had ended
spent looking for key for friends car - nissan want £ 300 for replacement, no luck, included dismembering a sofa.
prototyped my hall effect gearbox sender circuit, need to make the sensor; hopefully do that tomorrow.

I took the throttle bodys off my car and remade the linkage so as i could balance them properly, it seems much better now as before hand it was always
going out of balance and no 1 cylinder would never match the other 3.Didnt get a proper test drive as it started raining just as i finished the job so
hope to try it out tommorow,
Paul.

Ha! You have it all to come soon!
If I were you I wouldn't be spending any more on that car and save my money for nappies and baby grows!
They pee like racehorses! If you are lucky and put the nappy on right they wait until you take it off and then soak everthing in sight!
Anyway..
You can pick parts off mine when it floats by you in the river soon if it keeps p1ssing me off!
Day for myself out of the garage and down to Detling for the kit car show. Wasnt as good as Donnington but weather was the usual sun-shower-sun so kit car turn out was low but got some good deals to finish the car off. Then came home to find my sisters annoyed as her brakes arent working. Only another french wheel cylinder peeing brake fluid out so that had to be sorted.
Working. Again. Apparently I have a day off coming up a week on wednesday...
I don't think I have actually laid a spanner on the Indy in 2008, what with all the wedding/honeymoon, work being bonkers at the mo, and now
selling the house
Went to see LocoR1 (Dave) with a tank and a folded sheet of ally and came home with a sooper new swirl potted fuel tank (see above).
Tried to wipe the smile off my face
Didn't work
Went to see if my suspension was painted (painter told me they wouldn't be last week) and they were all done so I can get the car on its wheels
now
Tried to wipe another smile off my face
Failed again
Went for a great curry with friends.
Thanks Dave for letting me stop you getting on with your car and welding my tank.
Paul.
