This is my South African assembled (in late 1996) Opel Kadett 200is, that I’ve owned since 1999. I bought at 50 000 km and now it has 230 000 km on
it.
I just had it serviced and polished and I reckon it looks pretty good for a car of that age. The only non standard bits are a branch manifold, a
stainless steel exhaust and the paint on the wheels .
I do have it properly maintained though, in my ownership it’s had:
4 sets front brake pads
2 sets front brake discs
8 x rim repairs (potholes)
22 tyres
3 cam belts (preventative maintenance)
2 windscreens (sandblasted)
1 set dampers
3 batteries
1 starter
1 alternator
1 clutch (centre broke out)
1 clutch cable
1 tie rod end
1 wiper motor
1 headgasket + set rings and bearings (took head off to investigate water loss, did R&B while we were their)
5 x aircon repairs
Body repairs to front, rear and a LHS side swipe from a truck.
Sounds like a lot, but it is over 9 years.
Cheers

It certainly is a tidy car for its age Fred. Youve done well.
Your list made me chuckle. I immediately thought of Triggers brush (Only fools and horses). He had his exact same sweeping brush or many years, it
only had 6 heads and 4 handles in that time!!
Looks like a very nice place to live as well.
////// LOL
It does have that "Chef's Knife" feel to it doesn't it!

Nice car Fred!
my Bluebird is 17 years old, has needed...hmm new wiperblades and a headlight bulb, oh and it's totally mint at only 43k (@ 27k 2 years ago) plus
it's still on the orignal typres
Incredibly due to it having full service history it got it's 60k service at just 15k
You see it was orignally a disabled drivers car and he didn't like driving so I bought it off him, quite a steal.
22 sets of tyres & 8 rim repairs! your roads must be well dodgy
